Call for Co-opted Communications Professionals for The Lutheran World Federation Twelfth Assembly in 2017

The Lutheran World Federation (LWF) is looking for volunteer communication professionals to be part of the communication team at the Twelfth Assembly of the LWF, to be held in Windhoek, Namibia, from 10 to 16 May 2017.

Profile: As co-opted staff, you will be part of LWF’s official Communication Team at the Assembly. Under the leadership of the Head of Communications, your work will contribute to making the LWF Assembly visible in the global media, among LWF member churches, the wider ecumenical network, and your own church network. 

Our communications work will include:

·         journalistic news and feature story writing and editing
·         photography
·         social media creation and posting
·         video recordings
·         web site updates
·         blog writing
·         other content (Facebook, Instagram, twitter etc.) 

Criteria: This call is for those willing to work on a voluntary basis. Applicants should be professional communication staff in an LWF member church or partner organization. Applicants should have high expertise in one of the fields listed above, and be able to work in one of LWF’s official languages (English, German, Spanish or French) or any of the national languages in Namibia. As the team’s primary working language is English, one should have good knowledge of English.

Conditions: Applicant are expected to get leave of absence from their employer. The LWF will cover meals and accommodation in Namibia. The supporting member church or partner organization should make a commitment to cover full international return travel. Subsidies for a limited number of places will be made available for applicants from churches in the Global South. 

Duration: The communication professional will be expected to arrive in Windhoek a day prior to the Assembly, i.e. on 9 May 2017 and stay until 16 May 2017. A detailed work plan is being prepared, and will be shared in due course with those registered as co-opted communication professionals.
